On Monday October 3rd, Cade was able to pitch against professional hitters for the very first time. He was scheduled to pitch 3 innings in relief versus the Houston Astros Instructional League Team. Cade was excited about the opportunity to pitch versus professional hitters. Cade went into pitch the 7th, 8th and 9th innings. The first two innings were good in that no runs were scored on him. He did strike out 2 batters and walked 1. In the 9th inning, he started to rely on his fastball a little more and he learned about professional hitters hitting pitches up in the zone. In that inning he gave up 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. There were a couple of ground balls that could have been outs and a double play. All in all it was a great experience and he was encouraged by the outcome representing Team Canada for the first time.
