.357 at 18U Nationals
Cade just concluded his baseball season in Canada with the 18U Nationals. Team BC finished 6th in the tournament after a couple of late game collapses. Overall Cade had a good tournament. Cade pitched the opener against Ontario with the idea that he would come back on Sunday and pitch in a semis-final. Cade pitched 4 innings throwing 62 pitches with 38 of them strikes. He struck out 5, walked 2 and gave up 2 hits. He left the game with a 5-1 lead.
In the following games Cade was able to play a solid 1st base in 3 games and was DH in one. For the tournament he hit .357 with 5 RBIs and 2 doubles. He was Player of the Game in one game. He led Team BC in RBIs despite hitting in only 4 of the 6 games. Cade led the team in strikeouts with 8 in 5.1 innings. Cade felt like these were some of the best at bats of the year as he was able to see lots of pitches and even battled for a 10 pitch at bat.
In the last game, Cade was DH since the game was for 5th and 6th. In the top of the 6th, Team BC was up 7-3 and the wheels fell off. With the game tied up 7-7, Cade replaced the 2nd pitcher of the game and struck out the last out to keep the game tied. In the top of the 7th, Cade gave up 1 hit and had 2 runs score on errors at first and right field. To end the inning Cade struck out 2 more batters. In the bottom of the 7th no runs were scored so the team lost 9-7. It was a good learning experience as some of the team did not compete as much as they could have since it was only a 5th/6th place game.
Next Up is the Scout Stop Select Tournament with NW Elite in Minnesota. It will be great to play with some American players in front of College and Pro Scouts.
