Cade just completed the Baseball Canada 17U Canada Cup in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a collection of the finest baseball players in Canada. With scouts and the Junior National Team Coaches in attendance, the Canada Cup is one of the most important events for a young baseball play
Team BC had a very good week. The team went 5-1 in the Power Pool Round Robin. In the semis, the team defeated Newfoundland. In the final the team lost to Saskatchewan which was the only team to defeat Team BC during the tournament.
Cade got to pitch on Friday versus the highly ranked Ontario squad. It was the game to decide first place in the pool and the number one seed overall. Cade pitched very well. He threw a complete game shut out. Cade struck out 7 and walked 4. He only gave up 4 hits. Cade picked off two runners during the game. He first picked off the runner at second. Later in the game he made a solid move to get the runner at first. For the game, Cade threw 101 pitches and threw 60 strikes. Mentally, it was a great game for Cade as the previous year Cade had pitched one inning in the same stadium and struggled in the Western Canada Summer Games because the mound was not long enough for him. So for him to come back to the same stadium in a National Showcase and to pitch well was another victory.
Next up Cade is going to the 18U Nationals in Sherbrooke Quebec. Cade is looking for another strong showing with the team from Nanaimo BC.
