Busy week of good baseball opportunities.
Busy week for Cade Smith. He pitched one inning on Wednesday in rainy and damp conditions. Cade struck out 3. He walked 2 in that inning on a rain soaked mound. With one out there was an error on a double play that would have ended the inning. With the bases loaded he struck out 2 to get out of the inning. It was a good mental toughness outing.
On Friday night he went to BC Selects Tryout for the Canada Cup. Cade worked out at first. Hit his evaluation round of bp which included hitting one out of left center (using wood bats). Then on the mound he threw 86-88 and showed his improving curveball. "The curveball looks tighter than it has before." (KC Royals Scout)
On Saturday, Cade pitched in the college showcase for BC minor Baseball in Richmond. He struck out 2 on the mound in the 1 inning that he pitched. He faced 4 batters. One got on base on a dropped fly ball. The other hitter had a fly out. He played 2 innings at first and his team won 5-1. In the testing he jumped and touched 11'3".
