Early Season - Living on the Edge
Cade was pitching his second outing of the year. He was pitching against first place Whalley Chiefs. With the game tied 3-3 Cade was put in to pitch the 6th and 7th. In fact the game went 8 innings and Cade pitched 2 2/3 innings. Despite Cade taking the loss in the bottom of the 8th on an error in right field. Cade pitched well with good velocity. Cade struck out 7 and walked 5. In the 6th he had a ground out and 2 strikeouts. In the 7th, the Chiefs were trying to bunt players into scoring position. Cade loaded the bases on a bloop and 2 walks. Cade then struck out 3 hitters to get out of the inning. In the 8th, there were very close pitches and full counts. With the bases loaded and the other team cheering like mad trying to rattle Cade. Cade struck out the next 2 batters. So with bases loaded and a 2-2 count. Cade pitched outside corner and did not get the call on a check swing. Then the next pitch was hit to Right Field. The fielder broke in a couple of steps and had to break back to see the ball glance off of the glove and the winning run scored. Only 3 pitches in those innings went forward. A bloop hit, a grounder and a dropped fly ball. His velocity was 86-87 on the fastball. All in all it was a good outing on a cool night.
